Repat roll call
« on: May 02, 2007, 09:39:04 PM »

We just started the process. We received an email confirmation that our I-130 was received on the 27th April and is now in the process. According to the website, it appears to be a five month timeline right now. (At least 3 months for the I-130 approval).

Any others out there in the process of moving back? We can keep each other posted on progress, issues, news, etc.

We sent our I-130 on March 27th and received a note from the embassy saying it was filed on the 2nd of April.  Now we wait.

You guys are a bit ahead of us. Lets keep each other posted on the progress!

I am fine with the wait (4-5 months) because I still don't know when my job will actually end. Thinking it will be in the autumn and hope to get clarification in the next 4-6 weeks.

Hi Jenn...looks like we were about to cross. Yes we have made the decision to move back (its been a difficult one). We were planning for late 2008 but with my job going, we figure its a good time to make the move now. I know you can't wait to head back!  :)  I assume you guys are heading back to SF? Lucky you! Wonderful city!!  ;)

Yup, home to SF!  I'm loving the pound vs dollar right now too, makes moving back home much easier!  Sometime next summer is the plan....can't wait!  :)

We are considering starting the visa process this spring/summer though we aren't certain we'll move. It all depends upon where DH gets a job offer. But given the time it takes to complete the process, we have no choice but to proceed even if we end up staying here! Right now, though, the odds are on the US, but we shall see...
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

as soon as I get my British citizenship (applying in June assuming I pass my test) we'll be starting the paperwork for my BC husband so we can move back to the states. We're moving back for family obligations rather than by choice, so I'm still in denial about the whole thing  :-\\\\

We've gotten the I-130 and are looking to move forward with the next step.  My hub is in search of a job so that will dictate how quickly we move.  Soon, I hope!

Thanks Kelly!  :)

Some days I wonder if we have made the right decision and some days I can't wait to move back. Part of my reluctance to leave is that there are some great things about the UK and I think we have truly lived in the wrong town (my job has been here but its going). We both feel this way. We did have thoughts of trying to give it a go somewhere else in the UK but at the end of the day we have realized that we can live a bit more comfortable back in the states (just our opinion of course).  ;)

DH and I are moving back for a few months!  Then off to Canada, so I guess I count as a Repat.

Best wishes to you guys! That's great that you are eventually off to Canada, I always say to my Brit husband that Canada would be a great in between (UK vs. US).

Where do you guys plan to settle in Canada?

Did you/your SO have jobs waiting when you got there or just pick up and move?  My hubby is having a v. hard time finding work from over here.
