You mean proper 'sweet corn', not that stuff they call sweet corn over here.  :P

Precisely. Silver Queen and the like...

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

There are very few food items from the US that i *truly* miss, but i've managed to come up with a partial list:

1.  white albacore tuna
2.  Triscuits
3.  PayDay bars
4.  Nutter Butter cookies

white albacore tuna

Not a big tuna fan at all however I do like albacore white tuna when need be. I finally found the exact equivalent at Sainsburys. Strangely enough it comes in a jar not a can but you can actually see it's not that gross pink stuff they sell here in brine. It's not cheap but good if you miss it

That's what I buy when I'm at a Sainsbury's. It's delicious!! The problem is that I have to go quite a long way to get it! When I do, I buy 10-12 jars to keep me going for a while!  ;D

Don't think I can come up with 10 either.  What comes readily to mind:

Triscuits
Graham crackers
Dried chilies like these:  http://melissas.com/catalog/index.cfm?info=yes&product_ID=215  (that you can easily buy at a US supermarket)
NY Italian style pizza
Cuban food
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering

Yes, it is good... but it is £2.99 a jar!  :o

Thankfully i have friends with Costco memberships, so i can get white Chicken of the Sea through them for something like a fiver for 6 cans.

Great price!! I wish we had a costco here but Sainsburys is as big as they come for that stuff. £2.99 is a lot but when you rarely eat something, it's not too bad.

I don't know why, but Chicken of the Sea never did it for me. It was Starkist or nothing! But I do think the Sainsbury's stuff comes very close. It might even be better!

I dont see any difference in the brands... it's the same fish, from the same waters, isn't it?

LOL not exactly. It's like saying Coca Cola and Pepsi are the same (kind of anway) Two different tastes. Strange how that works but it is true.

But it's fish!  Not a chemical compound!

LOL I know it was a bad comparison but in terms of canning and preservatives, etc it changes the taste

It is the same fish, but they must do something different to it. They must! It does taste different to me.

Well, okay... let's just blame it on my chilli-scorched palate!

I found this but not sure if it's for Albacore specifically:

Chicken of the Sea Ingredients: Solid White Tuna, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Vegetable Broth, Salt, Pyrophosphate.

Star Kist Ingredients: Solid White Tuna, Spring Water, Vegetable Broth, and Salt.

Maybe someone in the US can check it though, just to make sure it's not merely BS (from a rival tuna company's website).  I would think Chicken of the Sea would have 'spring water' in it too?
