Do I *HAVE* to ILR or can I FLR (Again)?
« on: May 04, 2007, 09:59:56 AM »
Pretty straight-forward question.

I currently hold the FLR Visa in my passport and that expires in February 2008. I am curious, with the damn fees having gone up now, is it possible to not go for the ILR and instead just do an FLR again?

I really don't want to pay that much, although if I had to I would of course.

Thanks so much!

for a spousal/marriage FLR- yes, it's possible- you can extend your FLR(M) for as many times as you want as long as you continue to meet the requirements of your visa category (spouse)
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

One more question in regards to this.

How long before my current FLR expires would I have to file? Also, what form would it be?

If you're applying to extend your FLR and not for the ILR, I believe as long as you get it in the mail before it expires, you're fine. I obviously wouldn't cut it that close personally, but get stuff out about a month before.

Also...

Would I have to fill out FLR(M)?

Thanks in advance, all!

Yup. Got visa to come to the UK and marry, got married and applied for the FLR in Feb 2006. I could do the ILR, but I don't have all the paperwork, etc. So I just want to get the FLR again since I was told I could do that for as long as I wanted to.

Then yes, FLR(M) is what you're filling out. Good luck.
