Crystal Cat Litter?

We've found this stuff to be essential and nothing else will do.

How much does a jug of it go for in the UK?

Brace yourself...

In the US, we used Tidy Cats Crystals - we used a small (3.5lb?) jug each time and changed it every week or so (we have two very smelly cats).  So we were looking at $6-7 every week, or around $24-28 a month.

The only crystal litter I've been able to find here is one called "City Cat" which is available at Pets at Home - it only lasts about three days and costs £4 per 3.8Lbag!  It just doesn't seem to do the same job in terms of dehydration and odor control, though it still works loads better than clay litter....

Our litter expenditures have shot up from around $24-28 (£12-14) per month to nearly $80 (£40) per month!

We're actually considering asking Skyco or one of the other import companies to import a pallet of Tidy Cat Crystals for us - it'd cost a pretty penny, but it's not as if it's something we're going to suddenly stop using, you know?

There is another crystal type you can get in many supermarkets but I can't remember what it's called - it's made by Bob Martin (brand name). We haven't tried it though. We've ended up using CatSan. We get it in huge bags at Costco when we can. With 3 cats and 2 litter boxes, we change about every 4-5 days.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I have a friend who breeds cats so her girls are very precious to her. Nothing but the best! Anyway, she uses this stuff made from corn. Has anyone else tried it? I'm not sure how the cost compares with the crystal stuff, but it looks rather pricey to me.

As a matter of fact, I am actually the Yorkshire area distributer of the original litter pearls from the US. Bob Martin's generic version is not as good, from what everyone tells me. We sell it for £4.30 for 1.8 kg, which lasts one cat for 3-4 weeks. We have bigger sizes as well and can do a discount for UK Yankee members. Details here(follow the litter pearls link)

Funny that I came across this as I was going to post something about litter today.

We use the pine litter, but it makes the whole house incredibly dusty and I am looking to change. We have 2 cats...both stinky. So the pearl litter is  pretty good??? What do you do with it? Do you scoop it? Can you flush it? Can someone give me some more info on it. I am sick to death of the dust and now that my 16 month old has found the litter box...I am keen to try something else.

Does anyone know where I can buy something like a litter box hider? I have seen some in the states that look like a piece of furniture where the litter box goes in.

TIA for any advice!
