I prefer American chocolate as well. UK chocolate is nice (and trust me, I eat my fair share!), but it leaves this kind of gross, milky taste in your mouth. Actually, if I buy chocolate here, I usually go for the Peanut M&Ms because they taste just like the ones at home.

And as for Cadbury eggs  [smiley=puke.gif]  It looks like a raw egg inside and well, that completely grosses me out. I can't stop thinking that I'm eating a raw egg. I'd take a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg any day!

I so wish they did those over here!  Every Easter while everyone is buying their big chocolate eggs my taste buds want nothing more than a peanut butter egg!!

As some of you know,

The American company Mar's is here in the Centre of the Universe, Slough - and my mum and aunty used to work there (my aunty for over 20 years!)

We still get free chocolate even though my aunty left the company on medical grounds, and I'll always have a 'supply' of freeby chocolate whenever I want it!

I tried Hershey's chocolate and I didn't really like it as much, to me, it leaves a weird after taste.

I do sneak in 'other' brands chocolate without my aunty seeing them! but I do find it's very difficult to tell the difference in the 'actual' chocolate taste from Mars and Cadbury choccy.

Ahh well, i think i'll go have a freeby mars bar in a few!

;)

now wouldn't free chocolate be a fantastic thing for some of you ladies! ;)

Cheers! DtM West London & Choccy Central, Slough UK!

The best Cadbury is the Irish kind. Seriously, blows the US and UK versions clear out of the water

I don't know why the creme eggs aren't really available here all year round. A few of the shops here had creme eggs with an orange creme filling instead of the normal kind at Easter. Dh loves them, but they are just too sweet for me.

I forgot I started this thread!!  :o

Ok, so it's good that I didn't buy it, I don't like Hershey's at its regular price, never mind paying twice the price for it because of the Cadbury name!

I did look online and Hershey does have a section on its website saying that they have special permission to make it here.

I think American chocolate is too gritty, I prefer the creamier stuff. I like Lindt too.

I think the creme eggs are too sweet, but I do like them once in a while.

Now I want to try the Irish or New Zealand Cadbury, I like the UK version, are those versions that much better?!

It's probably just a matter of preference. I work with a Kiwi, and the last time he was home he brought back NZ Dairy Milk. It was luvley, but I doubt I could tell the difference between it and UK Dairy Milk in a blind taste test.

I prefer Cadbury over Hershey's, I like that it's creamy.  But I love Ghiradelli chocolate the most.  Mmmmm...now I'm craving chocolate, thanks guys.  ::) ;)

Me too! However when I first moved over while I really liked Cadbury I still liked Hershey's...now (4 yrs later) if I have a Hershey bar....its just not as nice.

It would be interesting to compare how much milk is in the different varieties.  The NZ one is advertised as having a "glass and a half of full cream milk" in a 250g bar. (Don't know how big the glass is though!)

But really I think Galaxy is creamier than any of them.

OMG, I had totally forgotten about Irish Cadbury!  Damn, now I really crave it :P.  I had Cadbury's hot cocoa once, and even though this sounds silly, I could REALLY taste a huge (divine) difference!!
