Oh god I hated doing this. We had one fridge in an old apartment that had to be defrosted about every other week. I can't stress enought the towels, and don't forget that you're defrosting the freezer and leave the house for hours. Trust me, you'll come home to a ginormous mess :P

As a handy hint ... before you turn it back on again, paint the coldest surfaces with glycerine (available from chemists) - it will inhibit the formation of ice (or at least make it come away from the freezer more easily next time)

I love defrosting ice-boxes.

But freon or the equivelent can blind if you poke a hole in the pipes.

I tend to use the handle of a butterknife and bang about rather than jabbing and poking. And scrape the fallen chunks out. Usually get away with one towel.

And the hair dryer is a good trick too, just don't go sticking it inside as you risk water dripping on it.
( I like the tripod idea Madeira)

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Well I have been known to do my ex's and others. If I am at someone's house and they are defrosting, I tend to take over.

Do you pay expenses?
