Is this possible?
« on: May 21, 2007, 08:37:07 PM »
I have refund checks coming from my US taxes for last year.  The thing is, they are so small it doesn't seem worth it to put them in here, because of all the fees (since they are written in US $).  My mother is on my US bank account, so can I sign the checks over to her, and have her deposit them in my US bank?  Has anyone done this or have experience with this?  Thanks in advance.

just endorse the checks, mail them to your mother, and she will be able to deposit them into your US bank account.  This is what I did for my student loan checks and it worked perfectly.  She'd be able to do this even if she wasn't on your bank account, btw.

Really?  Okay.  I was just worried that someone else might get it and cash it anyway.  You never know with identity thefts and stuff out there now.

I sent my checks via FedEx overnight to minimise any possible risk (and because it was thousands of $$ in student loans!)  FedEx might be overkill for you if it's only a small amount of money though, hehe.

Naaaaaah!   ;)  But, thanks... sending the check sounds like a plan.   :)

also, when you endorse it you can write "for deposit only in account # 8888888888, that way the check can't be cashed, it can only be put in your bank account.
