Strawberries with pepper? Other unlikely combos?
« on: May 23, 2007, 01:45:42 PM »
I was watching the Chelsea Flower Show coverage, and they mentioned that this is a popular combination.  Is it good?  (I can try it out soon... strawberries are growing like crazy).  What unusual combos work for you?

I've found that pears go well with asparagus.  I put them on pizza with white sauce sometimes.

Speaking of strawberries with pepper, I've heard of strawberries with balsamic vinegar.  It sounds gross, but actually tastes kinda nice!

Oranges sprinkled with salt can be nice too.  It sounds weird, but it's very much like very sweet tomatoes with salt on.

Watermelon & feta is really good!

Any melon, with anything salty.  Or just plain salt.

Strawberries and basil go well.  And I've made a strawberry jam with crushed black pepper before.

Oranges sprinkled with salt can be nice too.

Grapefruit with salt on is also nice - same sort of thing as oranges.

My adult cousin eats peanut butter and tuna sandwiches.  It sounds gross but I tried it once and it wasn't that bad.
