Apple dip?

Has anyone seen a UK equivalent to the US caramel 'apple dip'? I just sliced the kids some apples and was telling them about apple dip.

I haven't seen it but you could probably make it pretty easily. I'd buy the 'soft toffees' they sell here and melt them in the microwave with a couple teaspoons of milk. I'd do it for a few second, take it out and stir it, then pop it in again until the toffees are melted and mixed well. I *think* you can buy soft caramels here, too.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

If you aren't afraid of boiling sugar, there is a recipe for caramel in Nigella Lawson's How to be a Domestic Goddess book that would work quite well (with a pinch of salt).  It's part of the icing for one of her Victoria sponges.

This sounds easy enough. I wonder how long it would keep in the fridge? I think I'll give it a go! Thanks  ;)

Boiling sugar? ???  I'm afraid I'm not much of a Goddess at anything. I more of a Domestic Menace!

It would keep pretty well I'd think. A week maybe, if it lasts that long!

Yeah never thought about that. I have four sons now. Last time I had apple dip in the USA it was just me and Jordan who was just 2 at the time. I guess no matter how much I made it wouldn't last!
