Cupcake Frosting Help

If I wanted to make cupcakes with frosting similar to these, what sort of device would I need to use?

At a guess, a very large nozzle on a piping bag.

And I promise not to show the hubby or he'll be after you for a few.

I agree - a large star tip on a pastry bag.

Would I buy that at Lakeland?

Thanks. :)

Hmmm.  £10.99.  How much do I want fancy cupcakes?

Personally, I'd say not that badly.  You can buy a cheap bag with no tip, or make your own bag by clipping the corner off of a large plastic food bag.  It wouldn't give you pointy edges on your frosting, but you could practice using the bag and you could still make swirly designs on top.  You might find that you hate using a piping bag (assuming you don't already know how you feel about them).  Or, if you love it, you'd have some good bag handling practice when you finally spring for the fancy tips.

OK, I'm not making them till June so I some time to figure it out.  But, can I just applaud your use of the phrase 'bag handling practice'.  :)

good idea.  :)

A craft store should have them as well. I have bought most of my cake decorating supplies at A.C. Moore or Michael's. I don't know what's in the UK though.

Only £3.95!

That gives you the all-important nozzles, then you can just use a plastic food bag, as Carrie recommended. I have a nozzle kit, but very rarely use proper icing bags. The cheapo substitute is just as good!

Can't very well beat that price! The disposable piping bags are basically Ziplock bags anyway...

Sorted.  I'm so dopey sometimes.  ::)  The place I work is actually part of a resturant.  We have these things!  I'm borrowing it from the chef with all sorts of instructions.
