Oh, I don't like bananas.  I used to really hate them.  They really freaked me out.  Now, though I'll eat them, because they're easy to eat but I can't say I've  thought that I'd really like a banana right now.

And I'd never just eat it, I'd have to break it in pieces first.

My oldest doesn't like them either but likes banana bread or cake.

I'm (mostly) with Elynor.  Bananas are OK just past the green stage.  Not OK mushed and made into bread, icecream, pudding, etc.  Banana flavouring is truly ick.  Worse than watermelon gum, and that stuff is nasty!

Strawberries, ditto.  I'll only eat them fresh.

For whatever reason, raspberries, apples, other stuff is just fine in jam, cakes, sauces.  I never outgrew the picky eater phase, I guess.

Love this thread!  I've always liked bananas, but I wouldn't say I crave them.  Maybe every so often I think "Hmm... a banana would be good".

Am I the only person here who doesn't like peaches?  Nasty, furry things.  Blurgh. :-X

LOL!!   ;D

I am not really a banana person but lately I've been eating them more often (a few a week) in order to boost my 5 a day.  And they fill me up.  But historically, I never have really liked bananas.

I'm not really one for slimy bananas although banana bread and muffins are good.

My kids eat them in peanut butter and banana sandwiches.  They also take a banana for lunch every day.

I miss those!!!!!  That's what I took for lunch every day through most of elementary school. I also really missed having banana cream pie at Perkins.  That was yummy.

When DD was first starting on solids, she LOVED the banana flavored Farley's Rusks.  Just the smell of them would make me hungry...

Haha, peaches... My horse loved them, but only peeled.  If you gave him an unpeeled one, he'd drop it, roll it back to you and nudge you to peel it.  People generally obeyed him...

I can't stand peaches. The thought of them makes me gag. Peach flavored stuff is ok but the thought of biting into a peach...  :-X

I do get cravings for bananas, usually slightly under ripe ones.

I like them most of the time.
I like them even better when in a sandwich.
Some bananas taste different than others.
Bananas were not available in Britain during WW2.

I do like banana's but I will say that some in the UK are not very nice. Why?...well my Brit co-worker told me about the difference. If a banana doesn't have a proper curve its not from the Caribbean or south/central America. He is soo right about that! The EU banana's (not sure where they come from) without a curve taste terrible.  :P  Now, I always look for a proper label telling me where they are from. Unfortunately tonight we walked to Sainsbury's and the banana's that we bought were without the normal curve (I won't be eating them) but my husband will.

Ooh I love a frozen banana.  Better than ice cream!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

So the Fairtrade ones, are they the good ones or no?

I can't taste a difference. (And I like buying fairtrade)  I'll have to have a banana taste test I guess ;D

Are you sure they're not plantains being passed off as bananas?  Raw plantains are kinda icky.
