I've honestly never tried beetroot. Not sure I really want to.  :-\\\\

No!  Beetroot is really nice!
Im not keen on the pickled stuff, but the cooked stuff is magic!

I like the pickled stuff, but then I have not tried it the other way.

What about fresh beetroot? Osterley Farm market has it but I always walk right by. Wouldn't even know where to start.  :-[

You see...I love beetroot! (my friend Sally makes a fantastic chocolate cake with beetroot in it) and I love purple stuff in general. I adore Vimto (when I had my son, I ate only kit kats and vimto for about 8 weeks and I was a milking machine) but blackcurrant just is not nice. Its too sickly sweet.

Tonight I gave Noah some blackcurrant flavoured Tixylix cough stuff before bed and even HE turned up his nose at it. Yuck. blackcurrant is now banned from our house!!!

I've never had beetroot, but I've had blackcurrant jelly before and liked that.

You just peel it and then cook it!

I adore both beetroot and black currant. Except not together. Maybe. Come to think of it, I've never tried them together! Sautéed beetroot with a black currant purée, perhaps?  ;)

My favorite purple thing to consume is a gorgeous, full-bodied cabernet -  rich and purply-red.
