Check this one out - raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blackcurrants... yum :):

My husband's aunt made this a few weeks ago when we were visiting...it was delicious, except for those darn blackcurrants! I don't like the taste, but also, texture wise, I don't like how they go with other berries in a compote such as that.

As for beetroot...I'm a take it or leave it kind of person on that one. Don't hate it, but don't love it either.

Now cranberries...those I love in pretty much all forms.

Since I don't eat beetroot, I wasn't sure if there was a difference in taste, but thought there might be. I did a quick online search for beetroot and found that there were several different varieties around the world. Apparently, the main US and UK varieties are slightly different colours, so I guessed that maybe they tasted slightly different - I don't actually know the answer myself ::).

According to my mother, little difference. But that's a non-scientific poll obviously! ;)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I keep trying to like blackcurrant things, but I just can't do it.  The taste is all wrong.  Maybe I subconsciously expect it to be grape.  It does have a funny smell too, not fruity at all, kind of like tea that has gone off.

I had never had beets until I moved over here, and now they are one of my most favorite foods.  Pickled, baked, grated in salad, fabulous purple soup.  There doesn't seem to be a bad way to eat them.  Kind of like eggplant.

But you must be a bit prepared - everything it touches will turn purple.

I like the purple-iness!

Did anyone see the yummy salad Mark Hix made on Great British Menu? It was goats cheese, asparagus and all sort of cool varieties of beetroot - some white, some yellow, etc. It looked delish!! Now if only I had somewhere to buy white beetroot.  :(

My fingers are a purple mess today... but the beets were delicious!

I voted the straight purple bill.  Can't think of a single purple product I dislike.  I add currants to grape juice when I make wine, that's always good.  They're good in cookies, too.

I've fixed the poll.  You can choose a maximum of two.

That's the best thing about it, in my opinion!  ;D

I like the purple-iness!

I was thinking more along the lines of countertops, kitchen towels, clothing, pans etc.  I'm all for mixing the purpley goodness with the other foods, just not on my clothes!

Maybe I subconsciously expect it to be grape.

When I finally was forced to switch from cow milk to soy milk, I had that problem for a few months. I finally started to enjoy soy milk when I stopped expecting it to taste like milk. Why do they even call it soy milk? They should call it "soy juice" instead!  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Ergh, blackcurrant.   :-X

I can't actually think of a single purple food that I like, with the exception of grapes, which are more red than purple, anyway....

I adore beets, cooked with just a bit of butter and salt, perfect! Can't stand the pickled ones.

I can't believe I've never tried blackcurrant. Grapes absolutely a fav. We grew up with a vine of concord grapes in our backyard and there was nothing better than sitting there smooshing them out of their skins right into your mouth. So sweet.

I love grapes too - they're one of my favourite fruits, but it's the grape candy flavour that I can't stand. It's similar to cherry flavour, I suppose - I love fresh cherries, but I hate cherry flavour in sweets and drinks.
