Excellent Pebbles. I too, hope that they don't respond so you can move your complaint forward. As we know so well, EA's do not truly earn they money properly over here and when it comes to the bullying....that is OTT and they need to be put in their place.

I do hope for a good outcome for you guys. Keep us posted!  :)

Got a copy of "mi" Mortgage Indroducer magazine today from Vicky's DB. (THANKS FOR THAT!)
He did fantastic job recalling our side of the story. The article also stated: "A spokesperson for Connells said it could not discuss the matter and said it would question the accuracy of the complaint.  ::)  She said "As a responsible company we will be carrying out a thorough and balanced investigation into the matters raised by Mrs. Andrews in an e-mail received from her. Following that investigation, Mr and Mrs. Andrews have the right to take their case to the Ombudsman for Estate Agents."

I can report I have YET to receive a single phone call, letter or email from Connells despite my repeated request to speak to someone, ANYONE since the beginning of the dispute. The For Sale board is still in our front garden. We tried to knock it down but it's in there pretty good!

In the meantime we decided to withdrawl our mortgage contract we submitted through the estate agents bully mortgage adviser and decided to get our mortgage sorted through our current lender. We're out the £300 surveyors fee but we don't even care.

It's nice that they're "questioning the accuracy of the complaint", if only they would question the complainant about it!!!  Are you going straight to the ombudsman now?

I would have done the same thing. In the long run, losing £300 in order to get a mortgage with someone who's probably going to be more trustworthy seems like a better option to me.

And I'll bet you anything they're not replying to you directly because they're afraid of the conflict it will no doubt cause. When I've had issues with businesses in the past, they usually wait until the absolute last minute (the point where I start sending emails hourly and calling them twice a day) until they do something about whatever problem I'm having. I had to do that with a company I bought something from through amazon. I returned it and they weren't issuing a refund. Much less significant in comparison to selling/buying a home, but that's the impression I'm getting here. You'd think they'd try to resolve it when you could probably still be spoken to directly and not through a lawyer.  ::)

Excellent Pebbles, I am glad you didn't let that guy get away with the bullying. Not too surprising about Connells (its an EA after all)...aren't they lovely.  ::)  Questioning the accuracy of the complaint....looks like like they made themselves look stupid as well since everyone can read between those lines.

Grrrr!!!  I really detest slopey shoulders! That's pity, it's always better with a win-win situation. Their loss in the long run.

Does the ombudsman have the power to make any rulings or impose penalties?

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Yes, from what I understand it's up to them if I take it all the way to the ombudsman. I have to wait for just 10 more days to do so. They have 15 days in total to resolve this issue so I'm counting them down. I'm just SO frustrated not a soul from the entire agency bothered to call me!! Oh well...the longer they wait the better it is for me. I just don't think they know what to do with all this mess.  ???

This has REALLY caused a stir behind the scenes!  Connell's were VERY unhappy with the story, but Dan and his editor wanted to run with it anyway.  Dan will let you know if they get anymore feedback...though I imagine that when their PR people realise that the story is true they will be eating lots of humble pie!

Well still waiting for SOME sort of word from Connells. Not a letter, email or phone call since all this started! Good business!

Pebbles,

Have you heard anything back from Connells yet?

Received a letter a few days ago. They said they're sorry for any inconvenience caused but they don't believe I was wronged in any way. They are awarding me zero compensation. I'm sending the letter along with my list of complaints to the Ombudsman tomorrow. Fingers crossed I get something even if it's a tenner!  ::)

What a company. Let's hope you get a better response from the Ombudsman.

Have you told Dan?  I don't think Connells have even got back to MI.
