Good. Let her serve her time like everybody else. Sheesh- it's just a month, Paris, not a life sentence! She really needs to get over herself.   ::)
Now a triple citizen!

If they really wanted to give her a dose of reality, they'd put her in a cell with another inmate. Then she'd have a LOT to ghostwrite a book about.

I feel bad for her. Not that she's been sentenced to 40 days, but that the people at the prison let her think she was entitled to special treatment (i.e. they let her out).

It must be much worse to go back in, thinking you'd got let off, than it would have been if she'd just stuck out the 23 days.

Out of curiosity, what 'exactly' was the crime. I'd be curious to see what us average citizens are usually sentenced with for the same offence.

Agreed! "This isn't right!"? Give me a break! So it's okay for you to drive intoxicated AFTER you were slapped on the hand the first time for it, but it's not okay to receive the proper punishment for it?  ::)

Exactly.

Yeah, I see how it would be worse to think you were going to get to serve out your time in your mansion than in jail, but still, she was getting preferential treatment.

I'm not sure what sentence most people get either.

My dad got 3 years for DUI on a suspended license while on probation due to another charge of DUI (which is when his license was taken away). He was put in jail for the entire 3 years, despite good behavior (he worked for the Sheriff's office while incarcerated, and everyone loved him).

The way I see it, she's getting off with a slap on the hand with only 45 days, let alone 23.

The crime she's in jail for is probation violation.  IIRC, she had been busted originally on a DUI/reckless driving charge.  In lieu of a jail, she got  probation, fines and had to take an alcohol course.  I think her license was also suspended.  She then gets pulled over driving on the suspended license. Gets a ticket WHICH SHE SIGNED acknowledging that she was driving when she shouldn't have been.  Later, gets pulled over yet again on a suspended license.  Tries to say she didn't know (I think she blamed it on her assistant)yet when they pulled her over he last time she still had the paper she signed from the previous time in her car.  Oh and she also never made arangements to do the alcohol course.

The sheriff even said (I read it on cnn.com) that she received a harsher sentence than usual for the crime.

I'm no teetotaller, nor can I say that I've never driven under the influence. But she had three chances to get her sh*t together, and she didn't.

Definitely. I can only imagine how this must hit a nerve for you. Doesn't seem right does it?

Just a bit.  [smiley=bomb.gif]

Personally I wish she'd have at least been put in with the general population or as someone else said, at least had a cell mate. My dad shared a room with a rapist who was sick and disturbing and would talk everynight about how he raped his victims. My dad could only pretend he was interested so that he didn't get harmed in his sleep or have the guy tell other inmates stuff so that they'd harm him. Her sentence is a joke. If she gets caught another time, she'll fall under the three strikes laws and then she'll be in a bigger spot of trouble. Can't wait to see how that pans out!  ::)

And for crying out loud, what does she have to be upset about? It's not like being in jail will cause her to lose her house, her car, ruin her life, etc. She's disgustingly rich. She's going to get out and still have her house, car, all the modeling jobs she always got, and everything else to do with her ridiculous lifestyle. A hundred bucks says she's never even been grounded before.

You'd think someone that rich would just hire a driver. It's not like she HAD to drive.  ::)

I think that's the main problem here, she has *always* gotten whatever she wanted. And now she's not, so she's throwing a big 'ol tantrum. Hell, even Martha Stewart had to mix with the other inmates, and she handled that well enough that they made her a parting-gift poncho when she left!

That's what I keep thinking too. Just shows you can't buy brain cells.  ;D

I'm not sure I understand the entire story but what I do understand is the judge handed down a 45 day jail sentence to her reduced to 23 days for good behaviour. Then three days after she's incarcerated the sheriff releases her.
Now she was thrown back to serve the remaining 42 days? Am I correct in thinking she now HAS to serve the entire 45 days or does good behaviour clause still apply? If not why should she be punished because the sheriff released her. It's not like she escaped. What was she supposed to do tell him "no I have to stay here it was my sentence"
Am I misunderstanding something here?

I think that it was because of the backroom dealings and that the deal was made without the judge's consent.  It happened between the lawyer and the sheriff.

And yes, they made an example of her. They had to because if they showed any preferential treatment, it would have been anarchy in LA.

It's good to finally see that smug look smacked off her face.
