pets board
« on: June 05, 2007, 01:43:28 AM »
I just posted a thread about my cat and her anxiety and wasn't sure where to post it since there's a pet board, but it's not a moving related issue. I ended up putting it in chitchat. Someone else mentioned not being sure where to put some posts about pets since they were unrelated to moving too.

Could there be a board for people to post about pets and issues and stories unrelated to moving?

Well, we could start one here. I have two male Bengal-bred cats, Bert and Ernie, both of whom I adore. One can be way too needy, while the other can be very aloof. Regardless, they're both incredibly beautiful animals, and I couldn't imagine life without them (we'll have had them two years next month). I've had many cats over the years, but haven't been able to live anywhere where a dog would be practical (and we want a big dog). So that's next on the agenda.

I think it's a good idea!  Maybe it could be a bit broader... like pets, bugs and plants.  Then it could cover the stuff we like to nurture and the stuff we want to kill.

*BUMP*!

Re-raising this suggestion, since I think it's a good one.  I really think we need separate boards for the PETS scheme (ie the one we already have under moving issues) and pets in general (maybe under chit chat?)

ETA: or, if we were to have just one board for all pets issues, it makes no sense for it to be under "Moving Issues" from an organizational standpoint.  Which is why I'm in favor of having 2 boards actually (since the PETS scheme is definitely a moving issue but most other pet discussions are not!)

I agree! It might be confusing when people who are looking for detailed and specific info about the PETS scheme wind up having to read through page after page of how cute Fluffy is!  ;D

I agree as I didn't even know the "Pets" forum was for moving pets and I just made a pots about my fish that had nothing to do with moving lol  ::)

I definitely agree with that. There are posts about people's pets that I sometimes miss because I just see the title and think it's just about the moving issues.

Two separate boards would be easiest for keeping the important PETS scheme stuff readily available for people.

Also, while we're on the subject, I haven't seen PETS Scheme for Dummies as a sticky and that has been my savior in all this and maybe those could be made a stickies?

Bumping from 2007...

Was a pet board ever created???  Maybe I'm missing it somewhere, but I can't find one (unless it's one of those "you have to have so many posts" deals).

It's here:

That's the moving-specific one, I don't think a general catch-all one was ever created.

That's the one for moving pets across the pond.  I was referring to the additional "general" pets board being discussed above.  I'm thinking it was never created.

OK, that's what I figured.  It's a shame.  I have TONS of questions on where to get stuff, what places are "dog-friendly", etc.  Plus, I'm super involved in dog agility and therapy dogs in the States.  My dog is my furry child.  So if we have a parenting board...we should have a pets board.  ;D

I have seen plenty of non-moving related posts on that board.  I don't see why you can't put your questions on there, because I think they'll get answered.

That's what I'll have to do.  I'll try to get all of my questions into one big post.  Maybe I can find a UK pet forum somewhere too.

Yeah, I think most of the pet lovers on here do frequent that board, so give it a try!
