Save the Date Magnets?
« on: June 05, 2007, 01:48:26 AM »
Okay, so I just got a Save the Date magnet from a friend of mine who's getting married today in the mail, and it's pretty much adorable. Have any of you done this here? Did it cost you an arm and a leg to send them to the UK? Did you have to fill out the customs thing for every one? I'd like to have them, but I'm wondering if it's more hassle than it's worth.  ???

Thanks! :)

Cute idea! I have never heard or seen them but love it. As far as sending them that far, not sure. I would not see why you would need to fill out a customs form for each one...seems like it would fit in an ordinary envelope and could not really cost any more than usual postage for the letter.

I agree that you shouldn't have to fill out a customs form on each one, just send them regular airmail. They may take a bit of extra postage depending on how thick they are, they might weigh a bit more.

This site has quite a few choices http://www.save-the-date-wedding-magnet.com/?gclid=CM-Pv8T4w4wCFRPdPgodo2lNaw
but I have no personal experience with them.

You do NOT have to fill out a customs form for the magnet.  I received one from a friend a few months ago and it was just in a regular envelope.  It was a cute idea and I like having it on my fridge.

I have received SEVERAL - Year of the weddings and all....

It costs over a $ each to send them to the UK.  All the ones I have seen are pretty thin and floppy, so don't weigh that much.

Good luck!

We sent out save-the-date magnets, too - we used Vista Print and ours turned out quite nicely (if not extremely magnetic).  We sent our StDs from the US, using stamps we'd made with Zazzle, and I'm fairly sure postage was only 52 cents - of course, this was last April, before the post office raised their prices yet again!

We sent these out for our wedding! I just made them myself...I just used magnets from another company (that were given to me free) and then printed out my cover and glued them on top. I used card stock so you couldn't see through them and nobody knew they were originally something else! They went over really well for our families who had to make travel plans to attend our wedding. I still have 2 of them on our fridge now!
