the new job im starting next week does 'American Breakfast' on Thursdays in the canteen... cant wait to see what it's like!

Don't reckon you'd see a big bucket of grits to take a portion out of and plop a pat of butter on it tho'...  Or maybe a portion of grits with a dollop of grape jelly on the top?

My southern family all tease that aliens brought me because I *hate* grits. What southern girl doesn't love grits? That'd be me!

But oh do I LOVE fried okra!!  [smiley=smitten.gif]

If I have kids, I just hope they won't like natto.  Or sato-imo.  Or both together with okra on rice.  Sure, healthy... but totally sick-making.  My husband wants to eat these things sometimes, but Denny's in Japan makes them.. he can go there.  No natto in my fridge!

Ugh, natto is the WORST! My ex used to make that and our apartment would smell like moldy farts for days.

He was half Japanese and half Dominican, so he ate disgusting things from across the spectrum -- from natto to mondongo (soup with tripe and feet).  [smiley=bleck.gif]
When you are tired, it is okay to go to sleep. Even if the bars are still open.

He must have been cute, though!

I've tried natto plain with soya sauce and mustard, fried, in rolls, dried... I've found no form I can eat.  I had thought it would be like tempeh, which I like... but no.

Someone else will always eat your carp eyeballs in eyeball cavity jelly, nobody laughs when you pass on the raw chicken, horse, bear, etc...(I love sashimi, but fish only!)  but disliking natto is a faux pas.

No tripe soup for me, either, thanks!

I really like the "natural" peanut butter.  Maybe I am weird?

No, as a matter of fact, I waaaay prefer natural peanut butter, especially Adam's.  Creamy or chunky, both yummy.  I've never liked Skippy, because of all the partially hydrogenated fats they stick in it to keep it from separating.  I've never understood the need.  You stir natural peanut butter up, you keep it in the fridge, and you never have to stir it again (at least until you get a new one).

N.B. I always keep my PB in the fridge since one of my professors told me that PB, once unsealed, kept at room temp starts to form carcinogenic compounds.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
