Where to live in London with kids?
« on: June 08, 2007, 03:43:56 AM »
Hi - we might be moving to London in the next few months and I'm wondering where the best place to live might be with a 3 and 5 year old?  My husband would be working in the financial district and would prefer a commute that is not too long but we'd also like to find a neighborhood feel....  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

Hi!  I am somewhat new around here as well.  My hubby is already living in the Staines area and me and the 3 kiddos (6 1/2, 5 and 2) will be joining him sometime at the end of summer, hopefully. :)  Of course, I have never been there and don't know all the great neighborhoods, but I might suggest to look into the schools there so that if the 5 year old goes to school soon, you will  be a decently close proximity to one.

Just a thought...

Good luck with all the move transitions!

I love living in north London. I live in Crouch Hill which is close to the Finsbury Park tube station and offers both the Victoria and Piccadilly lines. We are very ethnically diverse. And offer lots of neighborhood type corner stores and butcher shops.

Is he working in Canary Wharf or the City?

If Canary Wharf - I have heard very good things from people living in Grenwich and that would be a very easy commute for him.  Actually, It wouldn't be that bad into the city.

Hampstead has a tube line that runs straight into the city and that has a very villagey feel, without being far out of the city.
