Hi,
I know that you still have to file at the Federal level once you have become a 'bona fide resident'. I'm originally from California and for the 2006 tax year I had to file in CA because I had still earned income there for a small part of the year. For 2007, I will be a 'bona fide resident' but do I still need to file state taxes? I haven't lived in the US for a year and a half. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

CA has very strict rules.  An aggressive tax position would say that you don't.  A conservative position would say that you do.  Making a choice between the conservative and the aggressive position could affect your UK taxes, possibly adversely.  The ramifications of deciding what goes into this are a legal question as well as tax, and probably safest for you to do offline rather than in a public forum.
