I love cucumber and I wish I could try this!! How strange!

I've been making some by added cucumber and lime slices to sparkling water.  Then chill - I use one of those Vacuvin things for wine to keep the fizz in.

My friend linked me to someone's blog where they actually tried it. Their only response was "It was disgusting." How disappointing if it is! I wonder if that's just a taste preference thing though.

Edited to add -- Oh no... i just remembered it wasnt cucumber, it was CELERY soda, but it was lovely!

  Celery?! I don't know if I'd be brave enough for that! I don't like celery much! It does sound cool though. One of my friends thought I was weird for drinking pear soda, which I think is much more "normal" than a celery or cucumber soda!

I don't care much for the taste of cucumber but I recall having something similar to this sort of drink when I was in Japan about 15 years ago. I wish I could remember what it was called but it was very nice and refreshing.

From what my friend Elisabeth tells me (she's been living in Japan for 3 years), the Japanese seem to be much more open to flavors that Americans (or even Brits!) would consider "gross." I wonder if our big Asian market in town might have something like that though. They have all kinds of stores that have foods, products, and clothes from all different Asian countries. I'll have to see if I can get down there this weekend and check it out!

The traditional stuff to add to it is sliced cucumber, lemon and mint sprigs. But people add sliced apple, strawberries, etc. as well. Anything goes! 

I don't care for it. Well, I know you will frown upon this Chary but the only time I had it was in a can from Tesco!   
Maybe the homemade stuff will be better. That canned stuff just left a really bad tastein my mouth!
