Things look positive.  My Dad's specialist says it looks like the cancer is contained in the right kidney so he will be having surgery to remove it in 2-3 weeks.  He'll be in the hospital for about 4 days and can go back to work in 10 days.  And it looks like he will be able to come over in August as planned.  We are still planning on going out there like I said which means my parents will have loads of time to enjoy their grandchildren and hopefully my Dad will be recouperated to play with my daughter the way she is used to.

Now I'll just worry about the surgery itself and hope all goes well with it.

That does sound promising. One kidney is plenty  :)

Thinking happy thought in your direction...

I am very happy that things are looking more positive! Definitely one of the most important things to hear is that the cancer is contained and not spreading beyond repair. My father is getting surgery this morning (well, in US Eastern time) to remove some possible new skin cancer, although hopefully this time it is not as bad as the last time. With cancer, it seems like the word is very scary, although the severity can vary greatly. I am rooting for your father and hope that things go well with the surgery and you have a fantastic visit!

I'm so glad to hear it is contained!  I wanted to send you my best wishes.  My stepdad, who has been a part of the family for over 20 years, was in remission when I got engaged, but a week before the wedding we found out that it was back and spread throughout his body.  We always knew the odds weren't good for his kind of cancer (esophageal) but we had hoped for the best.  It was a real blow, but the process brought us together.  I couldn't be there with them, but I got my mom on Skype and we talked every day.  I was able to support her and talk to him before he died 2.5 months later.  It was a real blessing in my life.

I am so glad to hear that things sound much better for you.  Do keep your passport up, but I'm sure your dad would want you to be happy and have a good life.  How great that you get to see him soon.  I'm sure it will be a special time for all of you.
