Quick weekend away? Try Belfast next weekend
« on: June 20, 2007, 10:07:27 AM »
Especially if the weather gets better - next weekend is the Tall Ships festival in Belfast and if it is anything like last year, it is a really nice time. If you are looking for a quick getaway, think about trying Belfast next week. If your budget is such you can stay at one of the new hotels near the Cathedral Quarter or Waterfront, you will be in the perfect spot to dander down to the Maritime festival, enjoy the ships, the market, and the city centre. If the sun is shining, it could be a really enjoyable weekend.

I took the kids with me to it last year and was highly impressed.

Here's more from the paper today: Belfast is ship-shape for second maritime festival

I loved it when I was there for two weeks back in 2001.  And a Tall Ships Festival is so interesting!  Boston has one every year in July.  ;D  If people can go, please do.  Belfast AND tall ships = great weekend!
I am the architect of my destiny.

Thanks for posting this, Stella--it sounds great! We'll have to go down and check it out. Surely the weather has to get better SOME time...  ::)
