When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

a "chindian" sounds like what dh always gets from the chinese takeaway: chicken fried rice with curry sauce.

always.

every.

single.

It does seem like Chinese food in the UK is more "Chindian" than what I see as "Chinese" food. I don't like it as much. I love sweet and sour chicken in the US but didn't like it in the UK because it was spicy.  :(

when I was in china...It was spicy heh heh :)
but very different, all the chinese food here seems  westernised with the perfect portions of chicken breast and the neatness of it all, I'm half indonesian and the indonesian we eat at home is very different, also my best friend at uni was from mumbai, and the food we ate at his house was amazing, I used to love take away curry, now I don't like it and crave the "real" thing

I've always found the Chinese food here to be much blander than the US... definitely not spicy!  ???
I have to tart up my takeaways with chilli oil.

I've had Indo-Chinese dishes, when eating out at an Indian restaurant with Indian friends. The server pretty much assumed that was what they would want! It was very strange, although tasty--sweet and sour paneer, anyone?

having lived in Singapore for 15 years I have found that neither the Indian or Chinese food here to be very authentic.  What is with the tons of onions, green and red peppers they pile into the dishes, and where is the spice??  Any why oh why do the Brits think Mexican food needs to have a curry flavor as well???

;) I meant here you can order duck in just about every corner shop Chinese takeaway. Crispy duck and pancakes.  ??? One afternoon, my mom and I went to three Chinese restaurants and no luck. We ended up at the one we KNEW had duck.

I have found more Chinese restaurants (including small corner takeaways) with duck on the menu here than my California neighborhood.
