Atlanta and O'Hare flip flop between the #1 and #2 spots for being the busiest airports in the US (largest number of passengers)...according to my google research though the physically largest airport in the US is Denver.

thanks for the correction. i had hazy information :)

Atlanta and O'Hare are the 2 largest airports in the US I believe (i think one is the largest and one is the busiest). JFK isn't as large (of course I've been known to be wrong in the past)

That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing, I had no idea that Denver would be largest. I don't know if I've flown through there, but Atlanta and O'Hare didn't seem too bad when I was there. I'm sure JFK will be fine since I won't be flying out of there. The group flight leaves from EWR.

Hello, I've lived in New York for 6 months in Upper West Side Manhattan. I traveled back and forth 3 times since I've lived here and I can tell you... anytime is rush hour unless it's in the wee hours of the morning and you don't want to travel during those times anyway (a little scary and intimidating to newcomers). If you want to avoid some of the hassle of the train system.. although it is quite good.. but a bit confusing if you do not know your exact route, I'd suggest the SuperShuttle.. they have a website, just google it. It's about $23.00, tip included and they'll take you from the airport to your door. I've done this twice. Coming back from the airport on the shuttle usually means it will take a bit longer since they'll most likely pickup a few passengers (up to 11) but it's efficient and cheaper than a taxi (around $40).
Quick note: the train can take you up to an hour and a half, where as the shuttle usually gets you home in under an hour.

I didn't have a chance to read all of the replies so if this is repeated information, please forgive me.

totally unrelated.. but since this is your first time in NYC I figured I'd let you in on a great shopping secret... check out Designer's Promise (93 Nassau Street) I take the 1 train to get there. Awesome designer clothes for amazing prices!! Also, find a Filene's basement if you can, my favorite one is on 79th and Broadway (also a stop on the 1 train...sorry, it's my commuter route and I'm a shopaholic) I just bought a Nine West carryon there for $20 and it's soooo CUTE! you can get great deals on shoes, designer dresses and a few other things there... i got prada sandles for $40 there as well.

hope your a shopper. NYC is amazing for it!
