Im starting with the fun stuff first, planning the honeymoon! It seems most practical to have it in FL somewhere. Any suggestions out there, I need your help! ???

Hey thanks, are you familiar with the Sarasota area then? We used to go there all the time I really love it and actually want to get married there. Are there any cool places on the beach in the Anna Maria area for a small reception? [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif]

I've never been to Marco Island, but I can vouch for Sanibel. And Captiva! Both lovely!  ;D

We are from Orlando too, but I am originally from the Clearwater area. We got married in St. Pete Beach at the Tradewinds Beach Resort if you want any info on it you can PM me- great place for wedding or honeymoon. I definitely think that the Gulf Coast has the most beautiful beaches in ALL of Florida, so I think anywhere over that way would be really nice.

ETA: If you are looking for a wedding photographer/videographer in the Orlando area, I can suggest a GREAT person for you who has excellent prices and fantastic work!

I visted Sanibel and Captiva in 2003 and loved both.  My parents were there last year and said Captiva is still rebuilding after extensive hurricane damage...not sure what the current status is.  There were few very restaurants and hotels open when they visited in October 2006.

Welcome to UKY :)  My parents used to live in Naples, and I love going back to Florida any chance I get. Naples is lovely, and pretty quiet in regards to tourists. Have you thought about the Keys? Little Palm Island is amazing, (http://www.littlepalmisland.com/) and reminds me of the Maldives. We stayed a week at Cheeca Lodge and Spa on Islamorado  (http://www.cheeca.com/) about three years ago. I highly recommend it. Was a very central location to go down to Key West, or back toward Miami.

I also love Anna Maria Island, altho I havn't been there in a while.  We stayed at a great little place called http://www.turtlebeachresort.com/. Love, love the Key West cottage. All of their cottages have a private area with hot tub and hammock. You can kayak to a private beach, right past Stephen King's  house, lol.

I absolutely love Destin, Florida. The white sand is gorgeous, and the weather is usually a bit milder there since it's on the panhandle. We used to vacation there twice a year when I lived in the States, so if you have any questions, just give a shout.

Samantha Brown did a piece on it for the Travel channel years ago, and I have been dreaming about going there ever since, lol. I think you need to take a photographer along to do a reportage documention of your honeymoon! LMAO

Have you decided when and where you are going to marry, as you need to work your plans around your visa issues.

Whoo!! I go to the Tradewinds at St Petes every year! We were there in March of this year!!! We have been going for about 7 years,  It used to be such a fantastic hotel, but its gone downhill a bit and seems to be really more interested in business travellers and convention people rather than their hotel guests. But I freaking love the place! We aren't going back again, as my 93 year old grandma is on the East Coast we go to that part of Florida. But I do love St Petes Beach a heck of a lot!!! Tradewinds is really lovely, they do really lovely weddings there!

I would recommend Pensacola, depending on the time of year. I was born there and still think it's one of the prettiest beaches in the world.

I was checking skyauction.com yesterday, and while I couldn't find anything I wanted (UK flights), I saw lots of cheap stays at what looked like nice places in Florida. I've never used this service before, but if it's legit, maybe you can find a nice resort for a very low cost.

You might also consider going a bit farther south and going to Paradise Island, in the Bahamas. That's also very beautiful (they filmed part of a James Bond film there).
