I might get a jar of some exotic honey from F&M or a little tea gift set and/or butterscotch from Harrod's (honestly, mostly because of the packaging).

Fortnum's also has some gorgeously packaged biscuits!!

Also, if your husband's friends are real foodies, Welsh sea salt might be an idea. I've given it to several people and they've all loved it! It also comes in spiced, smoked and vanilla flavours, and they do some lovely gift boxes with Bristol glass salt dishes and tiny siver salt spoons.

Fortnums is the best! If we were still in London this would be easy, I'd just buy a load of stuff from there.

Having been home now for five months (well, must say I'm not sure where home is now-here or there!) the things that I miss the most would be:
lovely chocolate-Green and Black's maybe?
Crunch bars
Digestives in all forms
Wonderful flavours of crisps-my DS (5) wanders the stores (shops) looking for Prawn flavoured!
Jaffa cakes
Packets of cook mixes-chicken tikka etc.
Hope that helps!  Must get myself to the international shop soon!
Michele

I live in Chicago and I've seen Green & Blacks chocolate at Target and Whole Foods.

Another to add to the list although I have seen it here as well Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate.

Oh!  I didn't know about them.  I may have to take a trip to Orland Park.  Thanks.

Do you just send these goodies by post?  If so, what declaration should I make for the parcel?  Would truly appreciate advise from those of you who have sent off munchies to the States.

I send chocolate back home all the time.  I mark the box "gift" and write candy as the contents.

I mark the box as "gift" and even enter the contents description as "gift." That's something the post office in the US never used to let me do! I don't like to spoil the surprise when I send presents back!  ;D

That's one thing I always hate about sending gifts to the UK! I hate spoiling the surprise by having to write the contents. I try to make it as generic as possible.  :(

Is it too late to add? How about Chocolate Olivers? And, I agree: Tunnocks, in part because of their cheerful packaging. Their caramel wafers might ship more easily than the teacakes.

Since it is again almost December, just wondering if anyone has anything to add to this lovely list of information about presents for our US families and friends...

I really want to send definitive English stuff, otherwise why bother? It's America, the land of you-can-get-anything-you-want-anytime. Especially since my family's in NJ/NYC area.

And if anyone else is pondering the same issue, read this thread from beginning- some great stuff here!

So far all I've bought for home is a Liverpool shirt. That's 'cause it's DH's team- and my bro loves "soccer".

Would love any more thoughts on this thread! Thanks, and happy shopping!
