Nachos with salsa or a cheese dip would be considered a snack in my opinion but I like them loaded with the works so I would consider that a meal.

But to me, 'cheese & chips' aren't nachos.
Nachos are definitely a meal the way i make them... piled high with spicy chicken or beef/chilli con carne, beans, cheese, creme fraiche, guacamole, olives, etc.

I'd agree there too...

just another thought... Taco Salad!

mmmmm nachos

I have a serious problem where nachos are concerned. I eat chips, salsa and sour cream nearly every day. I consider that a snack, but loaded with meat, guac, olives, tomato, onion, peppers, cheese and sour cream, definitely a meal.

Right.  Now I am craving nachos.  Not too good for my new healthy eating plan!

I know...I wonder how many weight watcher points are in a plate of nachos.

I'm not allowed 300 points a day, so nachos are probably out for me :(

Nachos just with cheese & dips is not a meal! Snack snack snack! or possibly a light lunch.  But if you put something more substanital between the chips & the cheese like refried beans then yes I'd count it as a meal. We do have nachos for an evening meal occasionally.

Exactly.

To me, nachos without meat are an appetizer.

For a vegetarian, that's a meal!  ;D

I think if you were to eat enough of them, they're definitely a meal. Especially if you're one to load up the items on top (like grilled chicken/steak, cheese, guac, sour cream, tomatoes, pico de gallo, beans, and other good things)!

I can go into Chili's, for instance, and order their appetizer nachos for a meal.

I probably skewed this poll due to my own preferences... I don't eat meat, and I like to cook the chips with just cheese, maybe jalapenos.. as I like to keep them crispy enough to handle the amount of dips I usually make.  I COULD cook them all together, but I love dipping!

I'm still eating last night's 'snack'.  I have enough pico de gallo and refritos for another week...

I was thinking that myself but I'm on the Core plan /No Count plan so that definitely would use all my points for the week in 1 setting.  ::)  :P  nachos would have to my Wednesday night treat for me.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  but in my opinion they would be well worth the extra exercises I would have to do at the gym on Friday though Thursday is my day off from the gym.

Even if someone isn't vegetarian, a big plate of fully loaded nachos is a meal!

To me it depends on what's on them...

If you go to the movies and you get a little box with just cheese and some peppers...that's a snack.

If you make a meal out of them...go the whole 10 yards...beans, meat, sour cream, cheese...so on and so forth then it's a MEAL!

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Thanks to you lot we had nachos for dinner last night--pinto beans (whole), canned green chile, and Irish cheddar on black pepper (!!!) tortilla chips. Not exactly the salsa, refried beans, and cheese on normal tortilla chips with sour cream on the side that I was hoping for, but hey, that was what we could find!  ::)

I really need to make some proper salsa. Everything I've found here has sugar in it.  :P

Where do you find plain tortilla chips? Apparently black pepper was the least of the possible evils at M&S.  >:(

Tescos usually has them, but I have been ordering real corn tortillas from lupe pintos and making them myself.  Much better even with the hassle!
