Robinson's as a shipping company
« on: July 03, 2007, 05:27:35 PM »
Been meaning to put a little report about our move across the pond.  We were living in Birmingham UK and moving to Colorado.  We called upon many different shipping companies for estimates.  Some just wanted to correspond by email and try to estimate without looking at our goods.  But many others did make an appointment and visit our home to give a true estimate.  We narrowed down to 3 companies that were all within the same ballpark for the amount of goods we had, but were way apart in the money estimate.  So I contacted all 3 and let them know what the other companies figures were and what each was offering.  Some were offering our own container and some were offering a shared container.  I finally got the best price and our own container from Robinsons.  They did an excellent job with the wrapping, packing and placement in the container.  It was a 1 1/2 day packup, with the container leaving our home and headed directly for the train station to make it's way to Southampton.  Two days later our shipment was on a boat and heading towards America.  We were able to track it as it arrived on the expected date in Houston.  It was delayed a bit awaiting unloading there in Houston.  But then put on a train (and taken over by Graebel) and brought up to Denver where customs only took a couple of days and then released it to be brought down to Colorado Springs (final resting place).  Everything was in perfect condition and the whole experience was excellent.  I would highly recommend using Robinsons for anyone getting ready to move back from England to the US.
