Scotland electronic and furniture stores
« on: July 10, 2007, 03:30:56 AM »
Does anyone know the major electronic and furniture stores in Scotland (Edinburgh) to purchase kitchen electronics (microwave, kettle, toaster, coffeemaker, etc.), and also decent stores to buy lamps, bedside tables, etc., other than IKEA.

Thanks!

I'm not in Edinburgh, but there are quite a few UK-wide shops that I can think of that suit your purposes.

John Lewis and Debenhams are two of the larger department-store chains with reasonable home sections, and both have locations in Edinburgh; there's also the huge Jenners on Princes Street, right across from the main rail station, which is owned by House of Fraser

Comet and Currys are two major electronics chains (think Best Buy with a larger focus on appliances than A/V) which have locations all over Edinburgh.

You can also buy small appliances like kettles, microwaves, toasters, etc. at grocery stores like ASDA, Sainsbury, Tesco, and Morrisons - all have home sections which are usually aimed towards students and other folks living on their own for the first time and therefore prices are quite cheap.

my new favorite store- wilkinsons.  wilkinsons.co.uk  check if they're in your area.  kind of like a mini-walmart.  i ditto the big food/superstores.  great for cheapish electrical goods.
