Uh, your honour,

Firstly... it is NOT a spoiler,
and
Secondly, considering how long it's been out, if you happen to hear something, well... there's a time limit on spoilers!  >:(

The BOOK, on the other hand, has been out a number of DAYS.
So there.

I rest.

So my mentioning Hermione's sex-change operation would be a bad idea, huh?

It's okay, I know you didn't mean to reveal anything.  What you said wasn't really spoiler-y, I just wanted to make a general request to keep this thread spoiler-free for those of us just now catching the show on BBC2.

I'm really curious to see how he changes from nerdy Japanese to macho-samurai that speaks non-accented, perfect English!

When Hiro got all excited to see waffles on the menu, I just fell in love! I thought the nod to Rainman very sweet as well.

I see on the IMDB that Ando is actually South Korean. Knowing nothing about Asian languages, I wonder if it's hard to learn to speak fluent Japanese if you are Korean?  Or are they close in dialects?

I know a little Korean and Japanese and I wouldn't say they are very similar.  One of the easiest things about learning Japanese (...the only easy thing) is that pronounciation is pretty easy.  If you had to speak it for a television part it would probably just be a matter of learning the words and not worrying too much about accents etc.

My Japanese knowledge comes from anime & that's it, BUT...it sounds right to me.  I may not know the language, but watch enough of it & you pick up intonations and pronunciations characteristic of it.  I'll catch the odd word here & there, and it does sound very authentic to the admittedly untrained ear.

Perhaps he's fluent in both through a parent or something?
