Frito "Approximation"
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:54:26 PM »
Anyone needing a Frito fix? I've never seen these before, but today I made a quick run to M&S for bread and found Nacho Cheese & Jalapeno corn chips. They look like Fritos and aren't too bad.

You can actually find Fritos for a good price at South African food stores.  There's one in particular in London Bridge station that does a bag for under £2.  Weird flavors, but still Fritos!

m&s also does pinto bean & cheese flavoured tortilla chips that are pretty dang tasty. i don't eat doritos because they don't have the magic green "v" on them, so i was quite pleased to find these m&s diddlydorums.

yep, the plain ones are ok, but the nacho cheese ones which have a colour not occurring in nature but addictive nonetheless are not.  :(

Slighty off-topic, but M&S also does a to-die-for Cheetos puffs imitation.  VERY addictive and delicious!!

This off topic as well but I think Wotsits taste somewhat like Cheetos puffs not the same I know but will do for now. Wotsits are also only a point & half per bag as well.   ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]   the individual single serving bags are what I'm talking about.

... and....

the cheese flavoured NikNaks are gorgeous, and very much like fried (red bag) Cheetos in texture, taste, shape, etc.... just not the same colour!

Actually, the tangy cheese flavored ones are veggie now. I just recently discovered this!

The texture is just like knobbly cheetos. The trouble I have is that they are just a little too thin, the knobbly bits aren't quite big enough. But they definately do for a substitute.

My parents gave us a bag of something called "Chit-oz" they got from an Iranian shop in London.  My DH nearly fell over when he saw/tried them, said they're the same as US Cheetos.

I love London for finding goodies. Last time we were there I found snapple and Reese Nutrageous Bars. Don't know why they can't carry them up in our area! I love snapple, and have only found it here once, and now they don't carry it anymore. :P
