oh kristen i'm so sorry!! i know what your going through, well minus being told off about a move, mine was being told off because i worked night shift and my scheduale was all whacked out when my mom died. tell them to bugger off as ericka said.

Like previous posters have said, forget what your family has to say about your move. Focus your time and energy towards your dad, and let the ones with the moving issues leave it at that--*their* issues, not yours! So sorry about it all. Have a safe trip.

There's nothing I can say that adds to what other posters have said, other than to add that I, too, am really sorry about your dad, and about your family's negativity. I think that, for a lot of us, our greatest fear is that something will happen to a loved one while we're living abroad. Have a safe flight, and best wishes for your father.
