Any advice for Health Insurance for Us living over
« on: March 13, 2004, 06:33:36 AM »
???Help
I"m moving to Dublin in June and I dont know what to do about Health Insurance.  I dont get NHS until I'm married and it could be a year before the wedding...does anyone have any reccomendations for what i should do about my own Health Insurance?  Looking for something like "catastrophic" and cheap.

Thanks!

Nancy

Are you sure you aren't covered by the NHS until you're married?  If you're coming over on any type of visa, you will be covered from the day you arrive.  I'd check into that first!

Otherwise, try Bupa (http://www.bupa.co.uk/).  They seem to be a very good service for a decent price.

My first thought was 'do they even have NHS in Dublin, cos its not part of the UK?!'... presumably you've checked this out, though.

I was wondering the same thing Broxi.  I don't know anything about the healthcare system in Ireland.  If it is similar to the UK system, I think they must take care of emergencies for anyone there on a proper visa.
