I noticed that she said the different jobs for Ron in the two different interviews as well. I really hope she just got mixed up because I'd hate to think she is making it up as people ask her the questions.

I felt better after reading those articles because it brought a bit more closure for me with the storyline. It's nice to know that she has it in her mind how it all pans out...but I just hope she sticks to the same story!  :)

My only criticism is that there should have been more Luna. I love Luna. Luna and Neville were my favourite characters - far better than Harry, Ron or Hermione.

I like Luna and Neville . . . together.  To me it seems more logical, given that Luna is a Ravenclaw and Neville goes on to be a professor of herbology.

Late in the game, but I finally finished it!

I struggled a bit in the middle (can you three stop talking and get on with it please?), but then loved the last 1/3... and yes, got a bit misty-eyed on the tube, when reading about Dobby's burial... and then of course Snape's story.  I wanted to cheer when I read that ("YES!" I KNEW IT!!" about him protecting Harry and not really 'killing' Dumbledore).

Now, as every time I finish one, I want to go back and start from the beginning and read consecutively, so I'll stop forgetting who's who, etc.

Nice little touch with the Malfoys as well I thought.

Yes, when Snape's last words were a request to die looking into Lilly's/Harry's eyes.  *Sniff*.

I know I'm probably the only one on the planet who thinks it, but Snape's story was kind of pathetic.  Would he have gone to the lengths he did if it wasn't his fault Lily was killed?

I finished it on Sunday night.   DD loved it.  Totally.

It was ok, but I find that I just don't like J.K. Rowling's writing at all.  I don't find it interesting or particularly compelling.  It didn't pull me in and take me for a ride.

I found the characters to be superficial in this one, at best; even the Ron/hermione storyline, albeit organic rather than 'out there', seemed rushed over.

she spent so much time on the backstories in the previous two novels that the last one was a race to the finish.  It was what I was afraid would happen after reading 5&6.

even the epilogue was a little too pat for my liking.

And FunGirl, LOVE your avatar!  Jason Isaac's as Lucius Malfoy is a particular favourite of ours.  He's fabulous!

I will agree with you in that.  I mean, you know teen boys, too, he'd have ditched those 'friends' in a heartbeat for a piece of a&^e.

I still don't see how James changed from being a bully to a nice bloke she'd go out with, either.

And why didn't Lilly disaparate with Harry once Voldy got to the door?

I don't really like James. I know, I know. HP blasphemy. But if I'd been Lily, there's no way I would have hooked up with James. Pah. Maybe Lily was shallower than we're led to believe through Harry's rose-tinted memories?

I still loved the book, though. All the books, in fact. Love, love, love them. The characters, the writing, the everything.  [smiley=heart.gif]

I don't really like James.

He sounds like sort of a git.  Sirius Black does, too.  Regulus comes out the better character.

And yeah, a girl as clever as Lilly, but with such a sweet nature, wouldn't have taken to him in real life, I don't think.

Just like in real life a boy like Snape probably would have dumped his 'pals' if it meant a shot at Lilly.

I still really like the books, though.  ;)

The lack of any information on the James/Lily relationship was a bit odd, I thought.  I know that it's really not important to the story, but I agree that she left James' transition from bully to stand-up guy a bit too vague.  Unless, of course, he never became a nicer person.  Perhaps Lily was just one of those women who falls for the wrong man. ???

As for disapparating - I'm guessing it was because of whatever protection spells they had on the house.  Wasn't that a problem at Grimmauld Place as well?

Well spotted!  Yes, indeed, that was it.  At Shell Cottage, too, they had to leave the bounds of the Fidelius charm to disapparate - elves excepted, of course.

I actually thought the saddest story was Kreacher's tale of Regulus.  Oh, and Merope Gaunt's in book 6.

I thought killing off Tonks was unnecessary, too.  But she likes her orphans!

Thanks!  I love his Lucius so much, it's going to be difficult to watch him turn into a pathetic toad in the movies.

I'm going to have to wait a bit (I know some people haven't finished yet), but this is my new favorite avatar/icon:

I wonder if Teddy Lupin will be the hero of Rowlings' next book(s)?!  ;D

PMSL, FunGirl!

I was a little miffed at that.  I mean, why not call one son Albus and the other Severus?  Or Fred?
