Root Beer
« on: July 23, 2007, 01:59:23 AM »
Im living in Hampton, near Kingston, nearer Hampton Court Palace. I need root beer. Where. Can. I  Get. It!?!?! >:( >:( >:(

Sorry, this has just been driving me crazy. And I want JIF peanut butter.

Also, if I can get the rootbeer without having to order it, that would be tops!

Asda used to sell root beer, but im not sure if they still do.

Your best bet is to buy it online.  I've bought it on eBay before.  :)

ASDA & Sainsburys both sell Carter's Rootbeer in 2 litres & six packs.  Look for the blue package with the American flag faded into the background.

Go to Bentalls, downstairs in the foodhall.  They have a whole section of American food.  You're in Surrey.  American food is not hard to find.  :)

my FH told me that root beer isn't sold in Britain, but now I see he was mistaken...I'll have to check ASDA although now that I think about it I've never seen it around where we live :(

How ironic, my FH JUST found root beer literally yesterday!!  Just like a previous post, it's called Carter's Root Beer and he found it in Sainsbury's (in the very corner, near the ginger beer) in a blue & red 2 liter bottle.  I think it tastes a little weird - too sweet for my tastes - but it will tide you over until your next trip home.  SMELLS strongly of root beer even if the taste is a little weak.

Wish I had known about the American food section in Bentall's when I lived in Kingston!!  Would've been useful :).

My husband just picked me up a 6-pack of Carter's from ASDA last week. I thought it was pretty good! Made me want more!

Haven't seen root beer at our local Asda...and the kids have been looking!  Guess we may have to make a special trip to Sainsbury's and look there...
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Probably has aspartame in it like so many of the soft drinks here, diet or not. I think I found it but didn't buy it because of that.

Well, that's no good.   :P  I'll double check the label next time we're there anyway - I could go for an nice cold root beer.  Oooo, or a root beer float (and I could pretend that it's really summer and hot outside).

Just recently I found Australian root beer in Waitrose in small brown bottles.  I thought it tasted better than the stuff at Sainsbury.

My cousin lived on root beer when she was pregnant because it's caffeine free. I made my BF try it in the states and he thought it was vile. He clearly doesn't know what's good!
