We got married on Friday, 29 December last year and didn't depart for our 3 week honeymoon until Friday, 19 January of this year.

Good thing we had to wait, because in that time gap, a flat came onto the market that we put the winning bid in for 5 days before we left for our honeymoon.  The whole thing happened less than a week after it came onto the market, and we would have missed out if we had been able to synchronise the honeymoon to start straight after the wedding.

We got married last October, but haven't taken our honeymoon yet for a variety of scheduling reasons.

We have the money set aside, however, and it's gaining a favourable rate of interest right now, so that makes me feel better. Once we do get the timing worked out, we'll have a bit more cash for our trip.

The very next morning we flew out to make sure we got to Seattle in time to catch our cruise. It was tiring, but the only for us to take the cruise schedule we wanted.

We got married on a Saturday and left on Monday. I was so hungover Sunday if anyone had told me I had to go anywhere I would have curled up in a ball and died.

We only had a mini-break to London because I didn't have my visa sorted, but we're hoping to take a proper holiday-type honeymoon next year if we can afford it.

We were married mid-August and didn't honeymoon until early October the same year.  That's because I was at the end of my fiancee' visa when we married, and we needed to get my residency visa sorted out beforehand - or I couldn't have left & come back to the UK (with an expired visa).

We went to Spain for our honeymoon with a week in Madrid & a week in Barcelona.

That sounds like a very romantic honeymoon, Carolyn.

If we ever manage a honeymoon, I'd really like to go to a beautiful beach. My husband, however, has the English genes that make him white as a ghost, so he's not into the sun. I guess a couple of weeks in Paris would be cool (we went there for three days a couple of years after we got married--it's a beautiful city, much nicer than London).

It was - apart from losing my suitcase (and all my clothes & stuff) on the 2nd day. :P

We went to Paris very recently & we both absolutely loved it!  I agree with you on how much nicer Paris is than London, but it's kind of like comparing apples & oranges - the look & feel of each is so different.  I really want to see this film, if it ever makes it on release in Leeds:

In any case, we both can't wait to go back to Paris, because the four days we spent wasn't nearly enough!

Married Thursday Oct 12th (emergency private thing b/c of the stupid system in my county in PA) and Saturday Oct 14th (original real wedding date) and left for NYC on Sunday, got visa Monday (yippee!!) and left Tuesday for St. Lucia, so pretty much right away. The first 5 days were recovery from the lead up to the wedding, we were exhausted, at least I was!

We definitely want to go back to Paris. My husband made the mistake of telling my MIL that it was the prettiest city he'd ever seen. That really pissed her off: "Well, Hitler didn't bomb the sh*t out of Paris the way he did London!" It's a touchy subject with her. But we didn't go up the Eiffel Tower (the line was so long, it would have taken up much of the day). We also didn't get a chance to check out the Louvre, which I've always wanted to do. That alone could take a couple of days. That movie seems intriguing, Carolyn. Did you ever get your luggage back during your honeymoon?

Pittpanther, it's a shame you were so rushed with everything. Did you have a good time (well, as good of a time as exhaustion would have permitted?).

Sorry for the Parisian hijacking to follow! :-[

But we didn't go up the Eiffel Tower (the line was so long, it would have taken up much of the day).

We timed that pretty well by going mid-morning.  We missed all the people queueing up first thing in the morning & before the second wave hit closer to lunchtime.  We did have to queue for about an hour, but it could have definitely been a lot worse!  (And the line was considerably long just when we were leaving.)  It was a Saturday when we went, so it's possible a weekday might be a little better, although Paris is a busy tourist city all the time!  There's some statistic it's the most visited city in the entire world for vacations.  Despite that statistic & its obvious popularity, we didn't find it nearly as crowded as London is -- or maybe that it just doesn't seem as dark (& oppressive?) as London can sometimes.  Paris is all light & airy elegance - the style of architecture & all.

We also didn't get a chance to check out the Louvre, which I've always wanted to do. That alone could take a couple of days.

That could take weeks!  I was shocked just how big the place is - it's incredible!

That movie seems intriguing, Carolyn.

The concept is one short film (each by a different director) for each of the arrondissements.

Did you ever get your luggage back during your honeymoon?

No. :-X
