American Beers
« on: July 25, 2007, 03:05:25 PM »
Hi all,

So I know that in Glasgow, Lupe Pintos Deli sells a good few Mexican and US beers, but they are by all accounts pretty expensive.  Does anyone know where else you can get American beers (beyond Bud!) can they be ordered online for instance?

Funny you should say that - just picked up Miller in my corner off-licence shop last night.  Don't usually drink lager-type stuff, but it was so muggy I just needed it!

Used to be able to get various types of Michelob at a place near my in-laws, but lately all I've seen in larger stores is the Michelob Ultra (ick).

In my experience, your best bet might be independent off-licence stores.

I'm going to the Great British Beer Festival in a couple of weeks.  If you send me a pm nearer the time i'll make a point of going to the US beer stand and get some flyers or ask around.

I'm going, too - can't wait!

Oh - and Sam Adams is pretty easy to get places, as well.

Tesco has a pretty good selection of US microbrews, which you can order online if they do the grocery home delivery where you live.

The down side is that you have to buy it in individual bottles, each one for about 1.50. It's a bit pricey, but there's nothing like having a Sierra Nevada pale ale or a Brooklyn lager sometimes.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

I have to ask why would you want to drink American beer here in the UK? The selection of beer here is fantastic! I would much rather have a pint of Spitfire or Guinness than a bottle of american beer.
