breyers light mint choco chip ice cream. It's perfect! Low calories/fat, and the best flavor!! one of the things i will always have in my freezer when I move back to the US someday

I loved that flavor I never felt guilty eating that ice cream, I was surprised that it was light it tasted so good. I also loved Breyers Simply Strawberry Ice cream both very heavenly I thought. when we move back to Indiana those are 2 of the flavors we will have in our freezer. Dh likes the Strawberry flavored one so we might have a fight on our hands lol.   ::)  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Are they discontinuing Cherry Garcia?! :o >:(

They discontinued Cherry Garcia as an Ice Cream about a year ago, and it was only being sold as a forzen yoghurt.  That is why I was so excited about seeing the ice cream on Sunday...they must have brought it back!

 ;D

I don't think so...they had Cherry Garcia at the festival this past weekend & it's still listed on the website as an active flavor.

Maybe Tesco just discontinued stocking it?  I've bought Cherry Garcia fairly recently from the corner shop.

This weekend, yes....as I said, I think they have just brought it back.

I have looked high and low over the past year, in every supermarket going, and it had only been the yoghurt available.  I have seen it in a corner shop, but I figured that was just old stock.

Perhaps they were doing a trial, and dropping it for supermarkets temporarily to see if the yoghurt kicked off.

Ah, who cares?  It's safe in my freezer now, and that's what matters!   ;D

Because you get what you pay for and the cheap ice cream is RARELY ever as good as the premium one!

Again, I do have to mention Mackies. The best. 15% full cream. And nowhere near as pricey as ben & Jerrys etc. (but still not cheap).

I think Ben and Jerry's is ridiculously expensive no matter where you are. It's almost $5 per pint here, I can get a gallon of ice cream from other really good brands for less than that. Ben and Jerry's does have some unique flavors though, so I guess you pay to get the variety as well.

It's the quality of the ingredients.  Non-premium ice cream is full of fillers!  Do a side-by-side comparison of the ingredients in Haagen Dazs with those of a non-premium brand:

Haagen Dazs Dulce de Leche:
Fresh Cream, Skimmed Milk, Milk Caramel Base (10%) (Sweetened Condensed Milk, Corn Syrup, Salt, , - Natural Flavouring: Vanilla), Caramel (10%) (Sweetened Condensed Milk, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Coconut Oil, , - Gelling Agent: Pectin, Salt, Natural Flavouring: Vanilla), Egg Yolk

ASDA Vanilla Soft Scoop:
Partially Reconstituted Whey Proteins, Sugar , Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil and Vegetable Oil, Dextrose, Vegetarian Whey Powder , Emulsifier (Mono and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids) , Stabilisers (Guar Gum, Sodium Alginate) , Flavourings, Colours (Curcumin, Annatto)

Walls Vanilla Soft Scoop:
Reconstituted Skimmed Milk, Water, Glucose Syrup, Vegetable Fat, Sugar, Whey Solids, Emulsifier (E471), Stabilisers (Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Carrageenan), Flavouring, Natural Colours (Curcumin, Annatto)

I agree that premium ice creams have far better ingredients than the cheap stuff and are, therefore, worth paying more for. But, I'd still rather make my own and do without the gelling agent, etc.
