I miss RANCH Dressing!
« on: July 30, 2007, 11:32:02 AM »
I am in love with Ranch Dressing. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I was going to end up in a country where they did not have Ranch Dressing. I have had some family members send me a few bottles. So I am okay for now. My Fiance has found some on a website that allows us to buy American products and have them shipped to us: http://www.skyco.uk.com/products.asp?cat=7

Does anyone know of a store that might sell Ranch dressing so we don't have to have it shipped? [smiley=hug.gif]

Tesco has Paul Newmans ranch dressing. There's another brand I've seen around too called Cardinis, a lot of supermarkets seem to have that one.

I have tried the Paul Newmans ranch dressing it is ok I'm not that crazy about it, but it's nothing like Kraft Ranch dressing if thats what your used to though. I myself only like Kraft Ranch dressing. sometimes you can find Kraft Ranch dressing on Ebay but sometimes the shipping from the States can be outrageously high I think.

Dh & I have used Skyco but we don't usually use them because they charge a small fortune for there products & shipping is just as bad I think.

I was really disappointed by the Cardinis brand. It's just..yuck (compared to other US brands).

What you can do is try ranch dressing mix, like Hidden Valley. It's cheaper for your family to ship and they can send more of it!

I was just going to recommend this.  They can stick an envelop or two in with the next card or letter they send.

Yes, def have the folks back home send packets of ranch dressing rather than bottles. They can send more and you can make it last longer.

Yeah... the packets are cheap and easy to pack... and nice to add to mashed potatos and other things. :)

You can also make it.

Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
15 Saltines
2 cups Dry minced parsley flakes
1/2 cup Dry minced onion
2 tablespoons Dry dill weed
1/4 cup Onion salt
1/4 cup Garlic salt
1/4 cup Onion powder
1/4 cup Garlic powder

Salad Dressing:

1 tablespoon Mix
1 cup Mayonnaise
1 cup Buttermilk

Put crackers through blender on high speed until powdered. Add
parsley, minced onions, and dill weed. Blend again until
powdered. Dump into bowl. Stir in onion salt, garlic salt, onion
powder, and garlic powder. Put into container with tight-fitting
lid.

Store dry mix at room temperature for 1 year. Makes 42 1
tablespoon servings. To use mix--Combine mix, mayonnaise,
and buttermilk.

Yield: 1 pint.

For the saltine crackers there is a brand from Italy that comes in a black package...wish I could remember the name I think it starts with a D that is just like saltines from the states.

Just a thought.

Is that the stuff that tastes like milk mixed with parsley and parmesan?  Ugh...so gross.

Yeah, to me Cardinis tastes like that horrible garlic mayonnaise take-aways put in kebab meat. Paul Newman's is okay in the US, but haven't tried it in the UK yet.

doriano

I was so happy when I found Doriano at Tesco.  It helped my saltine craving.

I think I'm one of the few Americans who finds Ranch dressing to be boak.  Just thinking of it makes my stomach churn.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I haven't tried it yet, but I just found this recipe for ranch dressing:

3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon instant minced onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
dash of freshly ground pepper
1 clove garlic, finely chopped

In small bowl, mix all ingredients. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours to blend flavors. Store tightly covered in refrigerator.

Yields about 1 1/4 cups
