Just like other supermarkets which vary in quality, who here has visited multiple Lidls? Was there a vast difference between shops? Where are the most loved Lidl's located?

I've only been to one - in Pembroke Dock where I used to live in Wales. The local Lidl down here in Cornwall (Hayle) has been closed for refurbishment but reopened about 30 minutes ago!! I didn't want to be the saddest person ever by queuing up for the big opening, but I do admit that I'm kind of excited!  :P

But other than buying those chocolate covered, marshmallow-filled half domes resting on a wafer, I just don't find much of interest.

LOL!  you mean teacakes?!  ;D

Really? The Sainsbury's teacakes I bought a long time ago contain a dab of strawberry jam.

Huh. I may have to try those again.

Buy Tunnocks.  They're in a yellow box and they're wrapped in red foil.  No jam.  I know which ones you mean though because the husband tried to buy the jam ones the other day because they were cheaper.

Not the bread variety, no.  But a chocolate teacake has a dab of jam, or "monkey blood" as we called it at school.

Tunnocks are the 'official'   ;) teacake that other teacake makers usually copy, and Tunnock's dont have jam in them.

Never seen one with jam, but i suppose it's not outwith the realm of possibility.... I only eat Tunnocks!  It would be unpatriotic to do otherwise!   ;)  ;)

We just had pizza using the pizza kit Lidl sell. It's not too bad... had anyone else tried it? The dough is on baking paper so you just unroll it, pop the sauce (included) on, and top with what you want. It's a bit salty but that may be because some of our toppings were, too.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I think the ones I purchased a long time ago were Sainsbury's brand. But they were chocolate covered teacakes and they did contain jam.

I don't recall ever seeing the non choccy kind. Are Tunnocks bready or chocolatey?

I dont know what you mean by 'bready'?

Tunnocks tea-cakes are a moist-ish wafer, with a dome of marshmallow, covered in chocolate.   The jam addition sounds rather nice to me, but i've never had a teacake that had jam in it.

I think (although I could be wrong) that she means the kind of tea cake that you normally get toasted. Sort of like a flatter English muffin with raisins in it? Delish with lots of melty butter. But definitely no chocolate or jam.

I was just referring to the bread varieties. I thought the definition of a tea cake was just a dome covered in choccy. How wrong I was!
