The £4.99 lobsters are all over the papers, apparently a sign of the recession.  I bought two, and a pack of crabs and a pack of rainbow trout.  Amazing bargains.

My BF does a lot of shopping at Lidl in Dublin. We went this weekend and I'm psyched to go and have a proper wander around when I move there. I had the chocolate gingerbread cookies and they were delish! I'm going to have to go back and give this thread a proper read to get some good ideas!

Whatever next?  Next week they have whole lobsters and crabs, and trumpets and bongos.

I think I am more excited by the prospect of bongos...send them home to my nephew, for some belated revenge on my sister!  ;)

I was hankering for some sauerkraut on my hot dog last night, but the Co-op didn't have any... so DH asked his German friend to send some to us, but he asked why we didn't just get it at Lidl's... I hadn't noticed it was there, but I guess I didn't look for it at the time... can anyone confirm?

They have sauerkraut at most grocery stores in the aisle with the pickles. If not there, most UK markets have Polish sections now and you can definitely find it there.

Hmmm... not up here, we are in the country. There are definitely no Polish sections in the supermarkets here, there is only one Polish girl in the village and only one American.   ;)  It isn't a very diverse place....
We searched by the pickles and there was only sweet pickled red cabbage.  Then again, there are no big supermarkets here, just small Co-op stores.  I will have to look for some next time we make a trip to "toon."   :D

A couple weeks ago, they opened a new Lidl around the corner from my work and I've been in almost everyday since! I've bought amazing cheese, delicious apples, sausages and smoked trout and lots of other goodies. I can't wait until they get the lobsters in. I really love Lidl!

OMG I never noticed this thread before.  I loooooooooove Lidl!  My favorite is their cloudy lemonade.  I shy away from their produce a bit, as I've noticed that Asda beats them out in both quality and price (except on the Granny Smith apples) almost every time, but everything else is just great!  Yay, Lidl!

Try Lidl tomatoes! They're GREAT!
