Just an update on the two pets in one carrier.
Apparently it's the USDA that bans it. I talked to Air Canada today and they allow two pets in the same carrier, as long as the flight doesn't originate or land in the US.
We found one-way flights from DFW to LHR for $340 in March via Air Canada (with a layover in Toronto)! So it would be a lot cheaper to fly the cats unaccompanied to Toronto via AA or another carrier, and then pack them together for the Toronto to Heathrow flight.
Unfortunately one of the kitties is pretty hefty (a three year old male we got from the SPCA who was only neutered in February) and they said the animals have to be within three pounds of each other. It was still a little cheaper to fly them this way than BA.
It would also be a lot of rushing around and worrying about getting the cats to the cargo four hours before their flight, so I guess we will do the BA route.
However, Air Canada might be a great option for others.
