We had ours yesterday and weren't so lucky....  We needed documents to prove intent to move, which were NOT indicated on any of our paperwork, which the guy admitted.

NYNY, what does this mean? How do you need to prove intent to move?

I ask because we have our interview next week and want to be sure we are prepared.

Jules, what it means is that you have to prove you intend to move within 6 months (or the time you've stated you will).  That would be something like:

- you own real estate in the US and state you plan to live there
- you have a job in the US
- in our case, our house is on the market, so the estate agent provided us a letter stating such
- in our case also, my husband is working with a headhunter to find work and he provided a letter.

We'll see if our 2 documents work and I'll post to let everyone know.

JuneHawk, I hope you don't mind that I've hijacked a bit!  Hopefully us all sharing info will help all of us!!!

I don't mind.  I just wanted to point out that this is the first time I hear of anyone having to show "proof of intent".

Thanks NYNY! I would never have planned for this so after your post yesterday I scrambed around for some docs. Our house is also on the market so I have a copy of the offer letter from the EA regarding the buyers, a solicitors letter showing they are working on the deal, an email that I sent to a recruiter (long time relationship)about my job search and our details for our trip back to the US next month (plane/hotel) reservations for us to go and start getting set up over there. I hope that is enough. Actually it will have to be because that is all we have at this point.

Like JuneHawk said, I have never heard of "proof of intent" either. I would think that paying the OTT visa fee would be enough. Sorry you went through that...especially with a baby! What an ordeal.

Do let us know when you hear back. I am sure it will be fine.

I'm glad it's not just me and that others weren't aware!  When they asked when we were going/living, we said we weren't sure yet and maybe that's what did it.  It's such a catch 22 as we want to have a job set in order to move, but you have to have the visa to look for work.

They said they have had a lot of people who go through the process and then never immigrate.  Who cares if they have their money?@!?!?!?!?!  And we ARE moving once we have everything set.

Anyway....it's just upsetting as we were planning to be in the States for our son's first birthday and now with this and the vacation time my hubby has left, we may not be able to.  And the evil inlaws booked a cruise for his first birthday so he would have no family here if we are here for it.  I need to just give it up and be happy that the three of us will be together for it.

Sorry for the rant, it is all just so annoying....
