Rick Stein's Mediterranean Escapes
« on: August 12, 2007, 07:10:43 PM »
Is anyone else watching this? Some of the food looks so mouth-watering! On Thursday night's show he did this incredible spaghetti with mint, capers and tomatoes. Mmmmmm.......

I'm definitely going to try it!

Yes! Rick Stein kind of aggravates me, but I did enjoy the program I saw the other day on Sicily...the recipes all looked so good. I bought some capers the other day at the store. I love them, and that show really had me craving some. I'll definitely keep watching.

I've always liked his cooking and his recipes, but sometimes on television he strikes me as slightly camp. Is it just me? It's kind of weird!

Anyway, like you I'm now craving capers. And pasta, goat cheese, olives, etc.

Next Wednesday, it's sardines and truffles!  ;D

I don't find him camp, but his delivery (vocal) is a bit whiney to me. He doesn't bug me nearly as much as Gary Rhodes though.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Gary Rhodes totally reminds of that that SNL skit like 15 years ago, the Anally Retentive Chef. I have been watching the Rhodes in India stuff today and he is a TOTAL control freak...he questions everything the indian chefs do..."That much oil???" Really??? Its so odd.

Funny you should mention Gary Rhodes bugging you.  His fruitiness bugs me yet I manage to dream I'm making out with him ROFL

It's not just you, I was saying this very thing to my husband last night while watching an episode of the French Odyssey.

See, I couldn't even bring myself to watch the Rhodes/India thing because I knew he'd be doing this sort of thing. And I love India and Indian food.

I certaintly don't fancy him in my awaken state!  The worst part of the dream is that not only was I liking it (in the dream) but I was actually the one that came on to him!!! My husband nearly fell over laughing when I told him about the dream.

I watched a bit yesterday and he is SOOOOO English!! He told one Indian chef he thought sour cream would work better in her recipe than yoghurt!! I love his Brit-cook type stuff but he is so the wrong person for this series.

I haven't seen the Rick Stein show yet, what channel is it on?
