Prague? In November?
« on: August 13, 2007, 05:53:46 PM »
When is a good time to go to Prague? DH got a 3 night stay in a lovely hotel as a gift and we're trying to figure out a good time to go (not to mention schedule other trips around it!)  We'd like to go sometime this Autumn.  any suggestions?

No advice - I had suggested to Steve about us maybe going to Prague for New Years Eve, upon which he reminded me that it would likely be bitterly cold then. :P

I went in October and it was cold but not unbearable.

if you went at the end of november you might be able to catch the christmas market.  supose to be lovely!

I was in Prague 2 weeks ago, and didnt really like it... but i somehow think i'd have liked it better if it had been really cold, and maybe snowing!  :)

cities tend to have a whole different feel about them in different seasons. I imagine Prague to be very different in the winter... fewer backpackers, stags, hens and tourists for a start! Plus all the old stuff would look dramatically different in less light.

Lovely hotel? Even better.  ;)

November would be a good time to visit as it's not deathly cold yet and the hordes of tourists will have mostly gone. The coldest months I found to be January-February.

I loved it in February.  Yes, it was cold, but there were a whole heck of a lot less tourists (especially the hen party sort) and things were even LESS expensive!

Agree!  Prague is great anytime of the year.  November could be a bit chilly and damp, but who cares since you'll be in such a beautiful city.  Just bring raincoats or umbrellas and layered clothing and good walking shoes.
