I have not, but my mother has years ago.  I know she bought a bamboo mat to roll the rolls and the rice and seaweed sheets.

I think you can go to a fish monger and ask for sushi grade fish or a Japanese specialty store.  I would think in London that would not be to hard. (Much harder here in Surrey)

Good idea though, and so much cheaper, plus a lot of fun I would think.

I bought a bamboo sushi mat the last time I was at Whole Foods, but I haven't tried making it yet. I do know it will be next to impossible to find sushi grade fish in Pembrokeshire!

I think you can freeze fish and then defrost it and eat it raw to make it sushi grade.

We were in Oriental City on Sunday and bought everything we needed except fish.  We are thinking of getting up early and taking the first tube into Central London and going to Billingsgate Market and see if we can find good fish there.  However, I'm nor a morning person and if I could find a japanese fishmonger with more sociable hours, it'd be MUCH better!

I like Yo Sushi a lot but I think Moshi Moshi is a tad better.
Moshi Moshi are only in London and Brighton. Its the same concept, conveyor belt and colored dishes but they reckon they were there first, so there you go.
We always feast on 'proper' sushi when we go back to NY. There is a restaurant near my folks that does half price rolls during the day.  8)
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

I really want to try Moshi Moshi! One of the fishermen they use is the brother of a friend of mine and they do all their catching in Cornwall!  ;D

Yeah Chary, Moshi Moshi are all about the sustainable fishing.

Oh what I wouldn't give for a plate of Ikura and maybe some tuna tataki :P

I love sushi, but I heard the founder of Yo! Sushi interviewed on the radio once, and he was such an irritating dipstick, I'd hate to give him any of my money  :)

I sometimes make my own, which is kind of fun.

Moshi Moshi is amazing! If you go on their website and sign up you get a membership card you can save ALOT of money, on sunday they do £1.70 day where everything on their belt is £1.70 and on your birthday they send you a voucher for a free meal, so  i always go with a friend and we spend £100, get half off and it only costs us £25 each!
And it's SOOO easy to spend £100 if you have the conveyor to start then have the teriaki steak, which is probably the nicest steak in the world, just amazingly delicious!
Plus wine and copius amounts of sake :D

I do Yo rainbow with my friend the other day, we also order it for delivery sometimes, it always comes piping hot and is really nice but it isn't as authentic as moshi moshi, it's a lot of crab sticks and california rolls. I really like the sashimi they do though, especially that coriander seared tuna, it's lovely.
