There is a 2 bed apartment available across from me ;D

The people next to us have a dog, so I'm thinking it's OK :P

It's definitely worth letting the rental agencies know what you are looking for. And also letting them know that you are willing to put down a larger deposit and have the carpets cleaned, etc.

We have 3 cats and have had luck with both agencies and private rentals. With private, it's worth phoning the landlord even if it says no pets if you tell them straight off you're a professional couple and will pay an extra deposit, etc.

Ahhh, good point!  Thanks!  Will pass on to DH.

hi--it is stressful.  I've just had to deal with the same thing myself, and it's not easy, but I *did* find somewhere that would take a dog (I don't know about 3, but I am sure it's doable.  Here's what I did to try and take some of the guesswork out.  I went to rightmove and selected any properties that even remotely matched our needs, and then sent an inquiry explaining our situation and offering 500 pounds extra deposit (you might want to offer a little more).  I probably sent about 40 emails, and I got about 7 bites from people willing to work with us.  It at least gave me some peace of mind.  Good luck!

Same here, except we've only got two monsters.  ;D  Our current place was found through a letting agency, but we're now renting directly from the owners, and they're fine with our guys.  At our last place, we never had any contact with the owners whatsoever, and had to pay an extra month's rent as pet bond and pay for fumigation when we moved out.  At the place before that, we just paid the management company a set amount (£50) per kitty up front.  So it really differs.

We found tons of places we wanted to rent but the big hindrance were our two dogs (23lbs total). We had a relocation agent who we heard tell the estate agents we had 2 dogs. Basically they lined up properties for us to look at for which they didn't have a definite "NO" on the dogs. However, this means they included properties they didn't even ask about it yet, thereby wasting our time. Also, we had a verbal agreement on a house, the landlords knew about the dogs and then the next day they changed their minds due to the dogs. Really it was a PITA due to the dogs. We were basically advised we wouldn't find a flat so it was good that we were looking for a house (or I guess a flat inside an actual house, even, rather than a block of apartments -- the main lease for the building usually doesn't allow dogs I'm told). We ended up in a "compromise" house because of the issues with the dogs and the short time frame we had to deal with. If we had had more time it may have gone differently. We were just disappointed because we had 2 perfect houses slip through our fingers due to the dogs. Once you get your hopes up on those then its much harder to settle later.Sorry to rain on your parade but just make sure they have actually asked the landlords and know for sure that dogs are ok so they don't waste your time. I was paying my relo agent a lot of money which the estate agents basically wasted half of. (This seemed to be across the board and not just one agency as we dealed with Lords, Dexters, and others I can't remember the names of now.) We also did a 2 month deposit rather than the standard 6 weeks.
