Combo's suck btw, they take forever to dry the clothes.

mine is a very old model that is no longer made, but it definitely doesnt suck, and dries a load of clothes in 1 to 1.5 hours.

Mine does suck, but it's like anything - you get what you pay for. And I paid very little. In retrospect, I shouldn't have been so stingy.

Well, mine takes about an 1 1/2 hours to dry a load and I think it is so long.  Mainly because it then takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to do a load of laundry and you can't put anymore in till that first load is done.  It just seems to take all day to get the week's washing done.

One other thing to remember about the combo washer/dryer units is that the condenser section generally uses copious amounts of cold water during the drying cycle.    If you're on metered water that might be a consideration.

On dryers in general and the cost of running, keep in mind that if you have Economy 7 or a similar tariff it's much cheaper (typically less than half price) to run the dryer at night during the off-peak period.

I like our condensor dryer, but find it drips water a bit from the back.  Don't know if this is normal or not.

Also, they do suck up the electricity or at least mine does.

LOL!  I suppose I might consider that sucking.  It only ever took at most 40 minutes back in the US.

I'm in corporate housing now with one of those combo things...it's miserable.  DH and I have looked into wash and fold services b/c we can't stand that aspect of living here.  I suppose all things considered, if the washer/dryer is the only thing we hate, we're doing pretty good!
