Am I the only one?
« on: August 18, 2007, 09:49:11 AM »
Who doesn't like coffee?

 :-\\\\

I LOVE the smell of it but have never liked to drink it in any form. Nor do I like coffee sweets or desserts.

Apparently my mother didn't start drinking it until in her 40s so there may be hope for me yet.

Sometimes I think I'm missing out on something really important! DH is now a coffee convert. He drinks tea but was turned on to espresso using the stove-top mokka by an Italian friend. His daily espresso rituals are pretty funny now. But I know he enjoys the ritual of it.

So, anyone else in the coffee-ick club?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I can't stand coffee either. I like the smell of it when it's brewing but I don't like to drink it and I definitely don't like it in desserts etc. Bleuch. I drank it for a while in my late teens and early 20s. I used to go to this cappucino place in Soho just to be cool! But that didn't last long because really I hate it.

Yes, you are the only one.   ;)

Kidding!

I'm sure there are people who don't like it, but I don't know any of them. My problem is that I can't have caffeine at all ... so I rarely drink coffee. I make decaf at home sometimes, and even more now that I got a sweet little 1930s stovetop Italian espresso pot for only £1.50 at last week's car boot sale! But I digress.

I adore the smell of coffee in the morning. My favourite ice cream flavour is coffee. Tira misu is like a little slice of heaven. There's nothing like a giant mug of cappuccino on a chilly winter afternoon. Iced coffee in the summer is divine. I just love coffee in all its forms - as long as it's decaf, I'm afraid.

I'm in the coffee-ick club!  ;D  I love to smell it and I don't mind fixing it for other people, but the thought of drinking it... [smiley=bleck.gif]

While I love to drink coffee and have at least a large cup or 2 everyday, I can't stand anything coffee flavored. I don't like tiramisu and I find coffee ice cream vile.

Hate anything coffee flavoured (except the smell) and I am getting married to a coffee addict.  We have a fancy espresso maker in the kitchen and I don't even know how to work it for guests.  Sad.  Every so often I will try a sip of Latte or Cappucino, but it still doesn't take.

I really should be caffeine-free as well. But I find it much harder to do here in the UK. I love a glass of coke every now and then but you can't get decaf here. Decaf tea is easier to get, but not in the variety I like.

Glad I'm not the only one, though!!

Karin, I refuse to make coffee for anyone! I used to make instant for DH before he became a coffee snob, but even then I always got it wrong!

You can't? I'm sure I've seen it in Tesco. I'm not sure if it's regular or diet though.

I know they do diet caffeine-free because I buy it for my bf.

It is hard to find though.  We buy it when it's on offer for the kids as a treat.

I've bought it from Asda.  I notice a difference in taste though.

I looooove coffee, but for the most part only in the morning which is weird. The idea of drinking it after about 11am doesn't appeal at all. It was an acquired taste for me though. I used to hang out at Cafe Pergolessi (for any other Santa Cruz types here) day in and day out when I was in high school and college and sort of forced myself to start drinking it. Now I'm totally hooked.... I don't like coffee flavoured things either though - isn't that weird that seems to be sort of common. I like Tira misu, but that's about it and it wouldn't be my first choice from a desert menu. I HATE coffee ice cream....

Horrible!! :P

:)

You can get decaf diet coke in the UK but, unless Coca Cola lied to me (I actually emailed them about it because I don't drink diet drinks - no artificial sweeteners for me) you can't get plain old decaf. There's not much of a market for caffeine free stuff in the UK as some of you will have noticed!
